Multi-award winner Charlie Dore returns to Ventnor bringing a genre-defying evening of ‘intriguingly other’, eclectic, contemporary folk, packed with earworms & crunchy lyrics’. Charlie and long-time collaborator, the multi-instrumental-musician-actor-writer Julian Littman (Steeleye Span) swap guitars, piano, mandolin, harmonium, ukuleles and stories as they share songs from latest double award-winning album ‘Like Animals’ alongside many live favourites.
Although this is a summer show the pair plan to fly in the face of seasonal tradition and share three uniquely unconventional Christmas songs on the basis that a good song isn’t just for Christmas. One of the UK’s most respected songwriters, Charlie has written for everyone from Tina Turner to George Harrison via Celine Dion but her live shows reveal that she keeps the best songs for herself. Charlie has also worked as an actress in theatre, film, (the award-winning Ploughman’s Lunch, opposite Jonathan Pryce) TV, Radio with Eric Idle and co-founded London Comedy Impro venue, The Hurricane Club, performing alongside many comedy icons including Bill Bailey, Stuart Lee and Robin Williams. She says she enjoys shape-shifting and is already looking forward to sharing her next venture, a series of essays about her backstage life,
