Event Details

Nina is a singer based in Cowes, Isle of Wight. After an early start in classical singing ,she moved into design careers in Theatre and Film for more than a decade. She is also an artist and a lover of nature and the written word. Widely travelled and living abroad through work and for pleasure, she is a keen observer of other cultures. Music has always served as a connection to herself and to others, and as a sense of freedom and release.

These elements inform her repertoire. With storytelling at the forefront, Nina sings with a purity of sound and a touch of folk. She looks to thread between the shifting lines of light and dark, hope and melancholy, joy and sorrow. Enjoy a reaxed approach as Nina delivers a set of known and less well-known songs from the American Songbook such as Round Midnight, Nature Boy, Skylark and I’m A Fool To Want You, along with a jazz approach to contemporary songs by Portishead , David Bowie, Joni Mitchell and Plastic Mermaids. Nina’s band is made up of accomplished fellow Island musicians – Jon Thorne on double bass (Lamb, Yorkston/Thorne/Khan), Tom Barker on piano and Chris Jones on drums (Plastic Mermaids).
