In these social media-enhanced days everyone’s a food critic. Matt and Cat are the real deal; writing about the Island’s food offerings since Trip Advisor was all fields. Stepping out from their column in the Isle of Wight County Press and their popular online eating out guide mattandcat.co.uk, Matt and Cat take to the stage to share some of their favourite bits from over 600 of their restaurant reviews.
Although rarely showing their faces in public, their place in Isle of Wight lore is assured as the pair have been writing about eating out since 2005. In this one-off show ‘Are You Guys Really Fat?’, you’ll find out what set them out on this food blogging journey – and yes, it was a bad dining-out experience – plus they will tell tales of splendid suppers, curious cuisine, and of course a few disastrous dinners along the way.
As well as topical insight and wider commentary on local food trends, Matt and Cat will be reading from their dusty archive old chestnuts which are no longer online. Hear about the curate’s egg, and venues where they couldn’t agree – including one Matt refused to even set foot in.
You might hear about the pub they called “a regrettable farce”, the cafe where they got into hot water after accusing it of selling “cheap tea”, the places they’ve been banned from (and how they got around it), and get the skinny on whether they are, indeed, really fat.
