“Nicholas’s beautifully detailed writing builds to a shattering revelation. Absorbing, gripping and emotional . this is a fine piece of theatre.”

Baby Grace Theatre presents He’d Murder Me. Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, 1977. The North is in the grip of the Yorkshire Ripper’s reign of terror. What is the identity of the murderer striking terror into the hearts of the community? Against the backdrop of suspicion and fear, 16-year-old Jack attempts to find his identity in the world. A world where the Ripper isn’t the only bogeyman. A coming of age story Yorkshire style.

Following a successful run at Birmingham Fest 2018, He’d Murder Me is this year returning to Birmingham as well as Ventnor Fringe Festival. The show was also performed at Huddersfield’s Lawrence Batley Theatre in 2018 where it was praised for its “economical style and humorous and darkly intense storytelling”. The 50-minute play explores identity and belonging in the north of England during the 1970s. How do the events of our childhood – socially, politically, locally and personally – shape our lives? A humorous, intense and at times dark one-hander, He’d Murder Me is written by emerging Northern playwright James Nicholas.

“Richard Buck is Jack in this challenging piece. He is an affable narrator, dipping in and out of characters swiftly and with precision … Buck is superb and doesn’t miss a beat” – Bum on a Seat, Birmingham Fest 2018.
